Stop Motion Animation on the iPad

Another fun project I am SUPER excited to try this year is stop motion animation using the iPad.  There are a ton of free apps out there; I tried MyStopAction.

not a brilliant example of the cinematic arts, I know - I was JUST PRACTICING!  The onion skin feature was essential to this working at all - I could also loop the video to make him wave more than 2 seconds...

Other apps allow you to draw right in the program - again, the onion skin feature is super important.  One of these programs is DoInk, which Tricia Fugelstad uses beautifully!

I would love to try some simple animation using the white-board or collage - maybe even work our way into clay-mation!!  so fun....

Aviary on the iPad

I am excited to have iPad access at Monroe elementary this year! One of the fun apps my kids and I have been playing with is Aviary (http://www.aviary.com/ios). Aviary is a free photo editing app with lots of fun tools like STICKERS! As is the case with most free apps, there are in-app purchases to give you even more options. Check out Cate's Aviary self portrait.

Self portraits with Aviary would be a fun class assignment! Students can create an alter-ego, or put themselves in disguise with stickers. They can also do more traditional photo editing with this app.

Off on a new adventure....

I am really looking forward to joining the Monroe Elementary Staff, and being my kids' art teacher (I THINK they are looking forward to it, too).

Not only am I starting a new year in a new school, but I get to start a whole new adventure with the TAG kids in Monroe!

We are going to have SO. MUCH. FUN...

You can see what I've been up to at TJ by checking out my OLD blog...
