not a brilliant example of the cinematic arts, I know - I was JUST PRACTICING! The onion skin feature was essential to this working at all - I could also loop the video to make him wave more than 2 seconds...
Other apps allow you to draw right in the program - again, the onion skin feature is super important. One of these programs is DoInk, which Tricia Fugelstad uses beautifully!

Those apps look like fun! I agree that the onion skin feature is a must. Have you looked at the program Dragonframe before? Here is an article about another art teacher in Iowa City who is using it.
